We started learning about ancient Egypt with some Egyptian makeup that the kids thought was hilarious!
We made Mummy rolls for lunch- cocktail sausages and wrapped in Pillsbury biscuit. (Side note- love it when the kids are preparing/crafting lunch...two birds with one stone!) Everyone made these while I finished our Magic Tree House adventure. (Also notice that the window behind Estee's head is no longer cracked. Crafty Resourceful Husband replaced it himself!)
Scotty and Bella improved their toilet paper roll bracelets (a favorite) with a harder cardboard roll we had (a roll of fabric, actually) and gold wrapping paper. Scotty's bracelets are scarab beetles and Bella's are little Suns. They loved making their collars (not necklaces, Scotty insisted!) and if I let him, Scotty would dress up as an Egyptian every day. He thought it was hilarious when we discovered that Egyptian children didn't wear any clothes until the age of 6 or so.
And then the moment we were all waiting for...the first time that all five children have been still and quiet! Toilet paper mummies! The kids loved this! Bella kept asking to do it again. The video of them breaking out of the toilet paper is great!
Peacefully quiet...
And then their scary mummy faces...Bella is scary!
Then we crafted some cool Egyptian bracelets from toilet paper rolls (yes, we use the whole buffalo. Toilet paper AND the roll.) and spray paint and gems. They turned out great! (Even though I was expecting more of a metallic gold instead of bright yellow...oh well, still turned out nicely.)
Jacob did not want to be left out. He even posed correctly.
As soon as Scotty took off his bracelets, Jacob was ready for a picture.

Of course we had to make a Rice Krispie Treat pyramid on Saturday! That also ended up being Graham's birthday cake. I thought it looked cooler after Steve put more "sand" all around the pyramid- more Krispies- and golden coins.
